Providing compassionate care is the mission of A Peaceful Way Home Care. We hire only those we would trust with our own loved ones. To acknowledge and nurture this level of care, we recognize an outstanding caregiver each quarter who exemplifies our values. The Outstanding Caregiver recipient receives a $500 cash bonus, personalized scrubs, and a certificate of recognition.

Both office staff and clients agree: Miraluna is always friendly, kind, helpful, productive, adaptive, dependable and exceptionally skilled. Her consistent flexibility regarding scheduling, and her professionalism makes her a perfect candidate for this award. We are all very proud to have her on our A Peaceful Way Home Care team and love the opportunity to nominate her for this commendation.

Please join us in congratulating Miraluna for 2021 Quarter One Outstanding Care Award!

“Just see if you like it,” is what a friend told Miraluna several years ago. Her friend was a caregiver and needed someone she trusted to fill in for her for a few days.

For many years Miraluna had worked in retail, with a varying weekly schedule. Later she worked as a hospice facility manager in Ventura. After her daughter Lauren was born, she wanted to have work hours that were predictable and a shorter commute.

Through her friend’s introduction to caregiving, Miraluna discovered of all the jobs she had done, she enjoyed caregiving the most. Because of her great reputation, she soon had her own clients. “When I am with my clients, it’s like caring for my parents. I didn’t have the chance to care for my own; I wished they had such long lives, too. Caregiving is a noble job,” reflects Miraluna.

One day Miraluna saw A Peaceful Way Home Care’ ad for a caregiver position. “I had a long daily drive to work – from Carson to Newport Beach. I saved the ad on my phone but forgot about it for nearly a year. Then my client in Newport Beach moved to an assisted living facility. So I contacted A Peace of Mind. I wanted to work nights so my husband (who works days) and I could care for our daughter ourselves. And, during the pandemic, Lauren needs help with her online school classes. I was concerned it would be difficult to find an assignment that worked for the client and for me. I was also hesitant about working for an agency, but it worked out great! I am very happy here and it’s much closer to home. A Peaceful Way Home Care really cares about their staff and appreciates their caregivers. I was so pleased when I was selected for the Outstanding Care award!”

Miraluna has been working for A Peaceful Way Home Care since November 2019, primarily caring for a Palos Verdes elderly woman on the night shift. “She was a very nice and funny lady, but also strong. She wanted to make her own decisions and protect her privacy. I’d sometimes bring her treats or flowers to celebrate a special occasion. I introduced her to King’s Hawaiian dobash and that became her favorite cake to have with her coffee.”

Before Lauren was born, Miraluna and her husband spent most weekends hiking at the Portuguese Bend Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes, biking in Long Beach’s El Dorado Park or on the bike path from Redondo beach to El Segundo. She is now teaching her daughter how to ride a bike, so they’ll be able to go out peddling together as a family soon.
