OUTSTANDING CAREGIVER RECOGNITION WALL

Last July, Rosemarie Iglesia went to A Peaceful Way Home Care in Rolling Hills Estates for her job interview. She saw a photo of a caregiver on the wall of the office, acknowledging her for outstanding service. Rosemarie thought, “someday my face will be on that wall!”

Indeed, Rosemarie was right! And rightly so! A devout Christian, her guiding principle is “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians 3:23).

One day, she was sitting in the car waiting for her husband to drive her to work when an all-staff text came in. At first, Rosemarie had a feeling of skeptical disbelief. She re-read it again. Then she cried. Her husband soon joined her in the car. Alarmed, he asked her what happened. “Is something wrong at work?” Rosemarie asked him to read the text to be sure it was not a scam. He read it and assured her, “Honey, this is real.”

When she went to work, the caregiver on the shift before her was looking at her phone and said, “Oh my goodness! Congratulations!”

Then when Care Manager Levi sent a follow-up text congratulating Rosemarie for being selected for the Outstanding Care Award and said, “You deserve it!”, Rosemarie realized it was real. She was so happy! This was the first time she had received this type of award and acknowledgement.

REMEMBERING MAMANG

When Rosemarie was only 14 years old, she began caring for her grandmother who had started showing signs of dementia. At first, Rosemarie wasn’t sure the best way to help and communicate. But she learned – day-by-day. She fed and dressed her for two years until Mamang passed at age 86. Through this experience, Rosemarie realized she wanted to make caring for others her career.

She had completed nearly two years of study of nursing courses when she became pregnant with her daughter. Because she had a delicate pregnancy, the doctor advised Rosemarie to stop the nursing school and clinical work.

In 2018, Rosemarie moved to the United States and was joyfully reunited with her husband who had preceded her here. He and her mother-in-law are caregivers also. For nearly a year, Rosemarie would fill-in for them when they needed time off. She then studied for and received her Certified Nurse Assistant certification in Santa Monica.

JOINING THE A PEACEFUL WAY HOME CARE TEAM

Now feeling well-prepared, Rosemarie set about finding a quality agency to work for. When she read A Peaceful Way Home Care’s mission to provide compassionate care for the elderly, Rosemarie knew we were the right company for her. “It really struck my heart. They want to fulfill the same thing I do.”

Since joining the A Peaceful Way Home Care team, Rosemarie has had several assignments. In 2020, she had a full-time client who only wanted Rosemarie to care for her. Currently she has two part-time woman clients in Rancho Palos Verdes and helps fill-in with others when needed.

She thinks of Mamang often while with her clients. “Quality of care and being compassionate are my ultimate goals for every client.”

Rosemarie Iglesia, Caregiver, A Peaceful Way Home Care

Rosemarie enjoys working at A Peaceful Way Home Care. It’s the first caregiver agency she has worked for and “I’m sticking with them because they are really nice. Terry, the owner, and Levi really help me. They make surprise visits to the client home. I like that. It means that they are focused on making sure you are doing good by the client.”
